Our Story

We are a Christian, non profit community organisation whose primary aim is to assist young people between the ages of 15 and 35.

Our staff are excellent. Most are volunteers. They are committed to breakthroughs in lives.

Mission Statement

To powerfully influence troubled youth to reach their full potential.

We create a framework that challenges people to reach their fullest potential - Spiritually Socially, Educationally and Occupationally. We provide community-based drug education, prevention and restoration programs.

Teen Challenge is the oldest, largest and most successful program of its kind in the world. Established in 1958 by David Wilkerson, Teen Challenge has grown to more than 170 centres in the United States and 250 centres world-wide. If you would like to know the story of how Teen Challenge started it's told in the book "The Cross and the Switchblade".

The success of the Teen Challenge approach to helping men and women trapped by addictions has been seen in many cultures around the world.

We are not called to remain within the four walls of a building.

Teen Challenge has a special ministry of standing between the street and the church. Our ministry is not just in the church or our centre but also on the street, in the youth clubs and schools. We try to stay current with youth affairs. It is our goal to be effective in ministry. We want to have answers for the people who come. It is our desire to do more than simply pray for people, important as that is.

Teen Challenge in South Australia is unique in several respects.

  1. We have a high level of outreach and provide food and clothing for the needy
  2. We operate a phone counseling service
  3. We operate a church
  4. We provide long term accommodation
  5. We are primarily a volunteer organisation
