A cry from the heart

Teen Challenge SA relies heavily on donations within the church and the community. Please consider supporting us today for our spring 2024 appeal. All donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.

Imagine you are five years old. Dad has been away for a while, and you don’t understand why. You get told that you and your family will visit Dad this weekend. You go on a drive, and when you arrive, the first thing you see is an exciting, colourful playground, and now you can’t wait to play with Dad.

Now, imagine you are one of the people who made this possible for this child … And that is why I am writing to you today.

Teen Challenge SA has been granted $16,000 by the Morialta Charitable Trust, but the budget for this playground is more than $30,000. We are reaching out for your support – on top of our other financial needs.

James lived in a cozy house near Adelaide with his young son, Ethan. As a loving father, he filled their days with joy, sharing bedtime stories and weekend adventures. But James struggled with addiction, a hidden battle that weighed heavily on him.

One night, after tucking Ethan in, James sat alone, tears streaming down his face. He realised he needed to seek help, not just for himself, but for Ethan’s future. The following morning, he gently told Ethan, ‘Daddy has to go away for a while to get better’.

Confused and worried, Ethan asked, ‘But why, Daddy? Can’t you get better here with me?’

James hugged him tightly. ‘Sometimes, we need extra help. I want to be the best dad for you.’

Ethan nodded, tears in his eyes. ‘Will you come back soon?’

James smiled through his tears. ‘Yes, I’ll come back stronger, and we’ll have more adventures.’ With a final hug, James left for rehab, knowing it was the hardest but right decision. He was determined to find hope and a brighter future for them both.

Are you willing to sow into Ethan and James’ future? Has God blessed you financially? Do you live in a stable, loving family relationship?

The Bible teaches us in 2 Corinthians 9:8 that when you give, ‘God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need you will abound in every good work’.

I pray that you would act today and reply by donating securely online and bless children like Ethan and their struggling dads.

Bless you,
