Today, I am writing to you to ask for a special financial gift in this season that has been very difficult in so many ways!
As you know, from Christmas and into January, Australia was on fire. Over $150 million was donated to bushfire appeals, and this was immediately followed by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The world has been turned upside down.
Teen Challenge SA is, of course, not insensitive to the fact that you may have been affected financially. If you have been, please disregard this request for support. Let us know, and our team will pray for you.
However, if you have been financially OK through this crisis, Teen Challenge SA needs your support like never before, by filling the gap where others, usually faithful supporters, are not able to give at this time.
Teen Challenge SA has also been affected and is going through a very lean financial period.
Problems faced by people with addictions have not gone away. Indeed, this massive crisis has magnified issues and put unprecedented stress on society. Right now, there are reports of increased alcohol consumption, drug use, suicides and mental health problems.
As the Teen Challenge SA team looks into the near future, we see an increased demand for our rehabilitation services coming from individuals who have hit rock bottom and have nowhere else to turn.
The government sees this as well and is about to throw many dollars at the looming mental health and addiction issues caused by the pandemic. Teen Challenge SA usually never sees any of these funds.
On behalf of the people who are in our recovery program and for those about to knock on our doors, I would ask for you to possibly dig a little deeper and make a special donation today.
