Meet Shane

From the outset, I’d like to say that Teen Challenge SA is an amazing ministry to serve in and be blessed by. As project officer, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work across the organisation on a range of behind-the-scenes processes and systems.

Over the past year, I have been involved with reviewing and developing the ways new students come into the program.

This part of the Living Free program is called our intake and assessment process. I have found it satisfying to work closely with several team members to develop this area.

In my project work, I feel inspired by the courage and perseverance of the Living Free student community and the dedication and focus of the team as a whole. During my time with Teen Challenge SA, I have learnt a great deal about what makes for a quality rehabilitation service, the diversity of experiences of those within our community, and the growth potential promoted by trusted relationships. One thing that stands out in my time so far with Teen Challenge SA is the ongoing witness to God’s love and light in this community as he brings healing and restoration to all who turn to him.

Currently, I am working with the team on an Australian Service Excellence Standards project. With God’s strength and wisdom, I trust I will continue uncovering and building opportunities for service development and growth in ways that honour him.

‘One thing that stands out in my time so far with Teen Challenge SA is the ongoing witness to God’s love and light in this community as he brings healing and restoration to all who turn to him.’

I love the teachings of God that are found in his word, and there are many Bible verses that apply to my role with Teen Challenge. One particular truth that disciplines my motivation and actions is found in Psalm 127:1, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain’. As I continue to serve, my hope is that my contribution is fruitful and keeping with the wonderful things God has in store for Teen Challenge SA into the future.
