Ride raises vital funds

The ‘Break the Chains 2021: Ride for Recovery Challenge’ was held from 1 to 31 October 2021 with a small but dedicated group of 8 registered riders supported by hundreds of loyal supporters.

By the 11.59pm deadline on 31 October, a collective total of 3,990.37 kilometres were ridden over the 31 days, and $21,529 was raised!

Riders rode around various locations in metropolitan Adelaide, country SA and even the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland!

The winner of the $500 99 Bikes gift card for most dollars raised ($6,000) was Matthew McDowell – a former Teen Challenge SA student. The winner of the $500 99 Bikes gift card for most kilometres cycled (1782.92 kilometres) was Gillian Stevens.

Running this year’s event virtually over a whole month gave riders the flexibility to choose wherever they wanted to ride, for as long as they wanted to ride, at any time with whoever they chose. It proved to be a beneficial way to overcome some of the logistical issues posed by COVID-19.

We’d like to thank everyone for a successful event, especially Stu Easom for organising it, all the riders and those who donated!
